Radiation policy statement

Heathgate Resources Pty Ltd (Heathgate) is committed to managing radiation risks associated with our operations to ensure the protection of human health and the surrounding environment from the potential harmful effects of ionising radiation.

Our commitment is to:

  • Manage risks associated with radiation through the development and implementation of Heathgate’s approved Radiation Management Plan and Radioactive Waste Management Plan.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and obligations pursuant to our Radiation Management Plan and Radioactive Waste Management Plan.
  • Establish leadership and management frameworks for radiation safety.
  • Apply the radiation protection principals of Justification, Limitation, and Optimisation across all facets of the business and life cycle activities.
  • Monitor and ensure radiation doses received by workers are within prescribed dose limits and are As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Identify and manage sources of occupational radiation exposure with the assistance of the approved Radiation Management Plan.
  • Ensure radiation protection is critically considered by relevant stakeholders during all life cycle phases, including design and construction, and all change management processes.
  • Ensure appropriate systems and controls are implemented, reviewed, and continuously improved to provide a safe working environment and to minimise radiation exposure.
  • Provide appropriate training to all employees and contractors to ensure all activities are conducted in a safe manner that minimises radiation exposure.
  • Provide appropriate expertise for radiation protection, and financial resources to comply with this policy.
  • Evaluate the performance, effectiveness, and compliance of our radiation management systems through audit and review and communicate performance in a transparent manner with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that any incidents related to radiation exposure or environmental radiological releases are reported, recorded, and investigated to ensure the effectiveness of the systems and any opportunities for improvement are identified and implemented.

Applicability

This policy applies to all Heathgate employees, contractors, visitors, suppliers, and providers associated with Heathgate controlled sites, and requires all employees, contractors, and agents to conduct all business activities in a manner that minimises radiation exposure to workers, members of the public, and the environment.
